The Philips Respironics DreamStation BiPAP Pro Machine monitors patient’s breathing patterns continuously to detect any problem at an early stage. The DreamStation Pro comes with an advanced humidification system that pulls moisture from the water chamber to provide moist CPAP air to the user. Features like SmartRamp and EZ-Start are included to make the equipment very comfortable to use. It also provisions for recording and reporting of the therapy data to a personalized DreamMapper app account that can be easily accessed using Bluetooth.
The intent of introduction of the EZ-Start feature is to ease the switch to CPAP therapy. It starts by delivering only half of the prescribed pressure in the beginning of the therapy. However, a minimum of 5 cm H2O is needed to use the EZ-Start feature. After successful completion of nearly 4 hours at the reduced pressure, it increases the pressure by 1 cm H2O. It repeats this process for around 30 days until the user becomes comfortably used to the recommended pressure levels. It is recommended that to enable using EZ-Start, your machine must be in CPAP mode.
SMARTRAMP & RAMP
Although SmartRamp and Ramp are designed to adjust the user to the CPAP treatment procedures, there are a few differences between the two:
SmartRamp: When set in BiPAP mode, the SmartRamp balances the exhalation and inhalation pressures using the Auto algorithm. The machine begins the Ramp process at a very low exhalation pressure. As breathing proceeds, pressure changes take place until any event is detected. In case any event is observed, the machine returns to the BiPAP mode to deliver the IPAP and EPAP.
Ramp: This feature gently increases the CPAP pressure from half of the prescribed pressure to the full limit within a specified time. A CPAP pressure of 4cm H2O is required to operate the Ramp. Then, the user can choose a time interval to allow the machine to build the required pressure.
BI-FLEX PRESSURE RELIEF
It also adds on to the comfort and ease of users to experience a more natural breathing pattern. The DreamStation Pro provides relief during three points using the Flex technology. The Bi-Flex setting reduces pressure by increments of 0.5 during exhalation and inhalation.
The DreamStation Pro CPAP features a built-in Bluetooth connection for pairing directly the Respironics DreamMapper mobile and web-based program. Just download the app on your mobile device and you can view all your therapy data. You can also personalize your data tracking account and share the same with your physician.
Its patented algorithm responds spontaneously to abnormal pressure changes. It also equips an Auto-track system that measures various cycle thresholds and triggers that automatically adjusts the pressure and also compensates for leakages. The machine acts proactively by identifying any slightest of the changes in the user’s breathing cycles.
