Patient SafetyNet Connects Patients and Caregivers
Masimo Patient SafetyNet is a remote monitoring and clinician notification system which displays near real time information from any connected Masimo device at a central station and allows for alarms and alerts from the bedside devices to be sent directly to clinicians via pager or 3rd party gateway to IP phones.
In a study published in Anesthesiology, researchers found that Patient SafetyNet helped improve clinical outcomes1
In their initial 11 month evaluation of Patient SafetyNet on a single 36-bed orthopedic postsurgical unit, researchers found a significant reduction in rapid response team activations and unplanned ICU transfers.1
Due to the decreased ICU transfer rate, an annualized total of 135 days in the ICU were saved. Upon expansion of the system to all post-surgical units, a second unit realized a 30% decrease in ICU transfer rate and a corresponding annual total of 168 days in the ICU saved.1
* The calculation of reduced rapid response activations by 65% was based on reduction of rescue events from 3.4 per 1000 discharges to 1.2 per 1000 discharges.
In another article published in the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation Newsletter, researchers found that:
Since Patient SafetyNet was instituted on a post-surgical orthopedic unit in 2007, there were no patients that suffered irreversible severe brain damage or death as a result of respiratory depression from opioids over a five year period.2
When analyzing the financial impact of the reduction in ICU transfers and the reduction in ICU length of stay for a patient with transfer, versus the implementation and operating expenses associated with the system, the realized annual opportunity cost savings was $1.48 million on a single post-surgical unit.2
† Since expansion, no patients suffered irreversible, severe brain damage or died as a result of respiratory depression from opioids over a 5-year period
Configurable screens allow you to view the number of patients, clinical measurements, and level of detail that are important to you With Patient SafetyNet, you choose the system configurations that meet your clinical needs. You can display near real-time data from up to 40 patients at a time and select up to five parameters based on your patient population and clinical practices.
Main View (Numeric): View up to five parameter values and alarm status of all patients at a glance
Patient Detail View: View up to 96 hours of history from all monitored parameters with an easy-to-use touchscreen
Main View (Icon): View a digital depiction of alarm status for as many as 40 patients
Information at Your Fingertips
Flexible and convenient access with the ability to generate and print reports from any hospital computer, eliminating the need to download data directly from the bedside device.
The example shows the ability to trend a patient's respiratory rate and oxygen saturation.
Specify the start and end times for report data to asses a patient’s oxygenation and respiration rate information during important time periods, such as overnight and sleeping hours.
